My friend Leo Kirby showed me great support for the tournament I competed in this weekend, and I want to repay him by doing the same for Matt, his son. He also competed this weekend in the kids division at the Atlantic Cup down in South Florida. He won with a technique of his own creation, which he dubbed Donkey Sex.

I’ll leave it to Leo to explain this one:

That’s the name of my son’s no handed kneebar that he gets from sort of a reverse half guard set up. I asked him why “Donkey Sex” and he said “How many times do you get to name your own move?”

I don’t know if he is the first person to ever do it, but he came up with it on his own so I will give him the nod on “inventing it.” And even if he didn’t he is quite possibly the only person to get it in competition.

Here is a clip of him winning the teens division of the Atlantic cup with it Saturday. Not a great clip and you have to look close to know he has the kneebar. No one watching knew why the kid tapped either.

He is the kid with all the hair.

Edson Diniz was coaching him with me and didn’t know he had it. I saw him set it up and told Edson, who was screaming to take his back, that he had a kneebar. Edson looked and said “OH! That’s good.” as the kid was tapping.

Congratulations Matt! And good job Leo and Edson on their coaching and instruction, and to the rest of American Top Team Hollywood.
