This is an interesting pass, Ill have to try it out. I haven’t been by the site in a while, I always tell people at the gym about it. I dig the new design. Congrats on the Brown Belt. Carry on…
Question. How do you stop the guy reaching round your body and grabbing the hand that you are using to control his ankle with his left hand?
Thanks for gathering all of these great videos in one place. This approach to guard passing has been my main focus in training for the past month. So far so good.
I use this pass quite a bit, though not yet in competition. It’s a great change of pace against a person that constantly breaks down your posture. Even if I don’t get the pass, they feel the threat of it and wonder whether it’s worth breaking down my posture again.
Thanks for rounding these up.
I’ve only had time to watch the first two videos, and found them interesting. I’m going to drill this a bit tomorrow, and will hopefully have some luck with it. I’m always looking for new passes that don’t require me to be stronger than my partners, as they’re all bigger than myself.
The only thing I could see being an issue is really keeping that underhook in deep, and being aware of the possible kimura. Step 1 in going for a kimura is isolating the target arm/shoulder, and by shifting your body to the side like that, you’ve done that for him. But, we’ll see. Maybe killing his hips hampers his mobility enough to prevent it!
In any case, thanks for the videos! Trying to find some new websites as I’m now avoiding Ari as much as possible, and this one seems like a winner.
