Great post and great advice.

I love how none of it is about "The Ten Most Important Moves to Learn."

It's all about attitude. If your attitude is right, the moves will most likely follow.

Really good list and I think these principles are worth being reminded of regardless of what belt you are.

"Boxers don’t ask “How do I get unpunched?”"

I think you just cured me of 90% of my habitual tendency to count on fighting out of a bad position instead of fighting (albeit extra hard, at much cost to my "gas") to stay out of it to begin with.

You didn't mention "unnecessary roughness." My first instructor was more of a tough-guy, my current instructor more of a sportsman. My first instructor wanted us to experience and learn to tough-out uncomfortable positions like cross-faces. My current instructor tells me not to be unnecessarily rough, that if there are two ways to slide my arm into position, take the route that is less wear and tear on my training partners. Don't be rougher than necessary under the circumstances.

Oh wait maybe you did say it. "Being aggressive doesn't mean being a meathead." But what I said above is how that translates to my personal experience.
