Also, effective in the loose gi case, is coming behind the hand. So, one hand on the sleeve pulling towards the opposite side shoulder and the other wrist or forearm between him and his grip prying the fingers loose. Similar to how Eddie Bravo gets the grips off his gi pants. I found this and the combination to be highly effective.

yeah this is a great technique… it is the only grip break i use, normally with the figure 4 grip

This technique is great. I always had trouble with breaking grips in guard and this just works wonders.
